a twice trade...

to whomever is interested,
i am going through all my littlebighead items and such and have decided to do a trade two times. it just means i have two packets of postcards and note cards that i would like to trade with whom would like it. each little packet includes:
  1. (5) the stars are falling rounded post cards
  2. (5) pomegranates and the ghosts rounded post cards
  3. (5) natalie and the owl note cards
  4. (1) drink me, eat me post card (the last in my stock)
  5. (1) crow and citrus note card
  6. (1) brothers and sister note card
  7. (1) they are my friend rounded post card
if you are, please leave a comment and on wednesday, february fourth, i will pick two people randomly. if picked you don't have to tell me what you are going to trade (i love surprises) because everyone likes to get a little something now and then, right?

a fawned friday for etsy...

my fawned friday today consists of all the wonderful shops and things i've discovered over the past week from etsy...
well, there are so many more wonderful arts and crafts on etsy but today is friday and i have done some things and still have others to do.

it's her last day at her preschool before she begins the new junior kindergarten program at the school across the street and she painted and glittered two little wooden boxes for her teachers. i have to put the chocolates in them and place them in their little red felted bags with the hearts on them to give to her when i go pick her up. i also have a couple of orders to get ready to send out and later tonight, i will be going to our first ladies poker night with my friends that i am pretty excited about. yay for friday!

it's the middle of the week, isn't it?

i finally went to buy black paper and already my mind is filling with so many ideas. i was able to make backgrounds for some of my papercuts and i made a couple of things for a few mail swaps i'm involved in. i made a little papercut necklace and a paper bird mask, each for two different friends. i am happy with the outcome and am thinking of ways to continue to create them better so that i can put them in the shop (i already did a felt bird mask for it). of course, she liked the mask and had me make her a little paper one too.

also, the days have been nice and bright and this is her last week at preschool. next week she officially begins junior kindergarten at the school right across the street. that is going to be so nice to just walk her to and from school, enjoying a little sunlight and air.

ghosts, circuses, a house and other things...

ghosts are on my mind again. i drew a few scenes in one of my journals. i would like to make 'the tale of...' into a notepad possibly.
when i sleep, i dream vividly but often times i slightly wake for a few moments before falling back into a deep sleep. that's where the idea for the vauldeville ghost circus came to me. i enjoyed doodling them and she enjoyed me drawing them. her only request was the acrobat.
and i had forgotten to post a sweet little house filled with many windows she drew for me. i believe she knows how much i adore houses...
oh, and i am so very happy for this new friendship with the dear mathyld of encore petite. i am so very happy that you enjoyed my little post for you...friendships are truly wonderful...

little paper cottage...

houses, as i have mentioned before, have special meaning for me. i still am haunted by dreams of houses, that are majestic, quiet, still but have a looming character. of ages beyond my life, of stories of life that belonged there. i don't know quite how to explain it. they tend to have some magic for me. some of the dreams collide into each other, some are distinct but they come and come again. for years even. it's the mystery of dreams that i will never understand but i can say, they are some of the sweetest, leaving behind a sort of residue on my mind, one that i often desire to feel again...

i have a papercut...

i decided to put my hand at paper cutting a bit. i cheated a bit by folding the paper but i do like my little foxes and the rabbits underneath. the foxes don't have much cut out but i did cut lines for the fur. maybe i'll work on it a bit more or maybe i'll just try my hand at another cut out...

a little ghost plays hopscotch..

she was wearing a dress that was mine when i was a little girl. it's an off-white, with small lavender flowers and frills everywhere. it reminds me of little house on the prairie but she loves it. i took these photos as she played hopscotch and she look so airy and floaty...

meow elsa...

how delightfully sweet and whimsical this print is by elsa mora. her papercuts are simply amazing and i was just perusing her etsy when i found this. i am always on the look out for prints that i like, of course, but also what prints would be appropriate and look good in natalie's room (which is still being worked on). i think this one woud fit quite nicely...

inside my room...

collected pine cones and rocks sit upon a window sill; three black cats in their harvest colored frocks sit upon a quilt patterned bed; the walls are adorned with photos and artwork in black frames, one in white square and in a journal, a work begins...

can i be a little fox?
(from my own flickr)

the fox is quickly becoming a favorite of mine for various reasons. he is often seen as sly and clever. in some stories he is the mischief maker, the villain. i rather like the portrayal of the fox in the lion, the witch and the wardrobe. in the film, when the pevensie siblings, along with mr. and mrs. beaver are running away from the wolves, they encounter the fox whom at first they think is also the enemy. the fox proves he is a believer of aslan and therefore an ally by hiding them and helping them escape ftom the wolves. i do believe them to be dlightful creatures, so here i am among them...

the owl and the pine cone...

the bubelah bear, wearing her pine cone necklace and my ribboned owl...good night everyone, good night...

The man in the moon
Looked out of the moon
And this is what he said,
"Tis time that, now I'm getting up,
All babies went to bed."

something about mary...

mary blair's artwork are lovely dreams. i just added her to my adorations though i know i have so many more artists that i love. i just had to point her out this moment though. for her colors, her lines, her imagination. she was a truly gifted woman...

(all images googled)

framed things and charms too...

she likes to collect pine cones, so naturally, we have them all over the house. my favorite are the smaller ones, conical, not bent over and closed with still a stem. the other day she gave me yet another one like it and I have a sweet little sheer ivory ribbon and tied it around the stem. at first it went onto ginny's rear view mirror but alas, i knew she would want to wear it and so she still is now. she had given me an idea so i went to michael's to have a look around. i found a few sweet charms, and just one, round and simply elaborate charm with a illustration of a vintage owl in it! i love it and now it has been strung into a little velvety brown ribbon.

i also recieved some beautiful frames provided by little bird vintage that came along with the curio with my tiny buttons in it. i deciced to fill them with original illustrations and put them in the shop. i have more information about them on my littlebighead.

it is so much fun creating, making things, crafting. it has such a wonder of fulfillment and excitement. i have more ribbon and more charms. i just have to get the ideas rolling, and we will see what happens...

a curio and two stories...

i received my lovely little curio from little byrd vintage today. it perfectly holds my tiny collection of one inch buttons, mostly from kathleen lolley, the others from birds & nests and linotte. it's like beautiful tiny artworks on display in my room and i like it very much.

today, while grocery shopping, i decided to take a quick look at the books available. i found these two delights together and only for $6.32 (the wonders of sam's club). i read the secret garden when i was younger and had only heard about a little princess both by frances hodgson burnette. i am so happy to have these two and natalie had me start reading a little princess already to her. these two titles will eventually make their way to the books we read and i am pretty happy about that.

and now, sitting here, listening to the crickets outside, letting me know the weather is warm even though it's winter and evening. it feels like late spring which is not a bad thing if it were really late spring. winter seems to have barely been here. i hope i get to see a glimpse of it more before it really is gone. until then, the breeze wafting in is nice and i will enjoy it still...
