we braved the rain on friday night to see coraline and none
of us were disappointed. we all feel in love and i am happy
that the darker moments did faze my little bubelah.
so now i'm finding a little magic everywhere on the coraline website
and wanting the soundtrack and the dolls too...

can i be a little fox?
(from my own flickr)

the fox is quickly becoming a favorite of mine for various reasons. he is often seen as sly and clever. in some stories he is the mischief maker, the villain. i rather like the portrayal of the fox in the lion, the witch and the wardrobe. in the film, when the pevensie siblings, along with mr. and mrs. beaver are running away from the wolves, they encounter the fox whom at first they think is also the enemy. the fox proves he is a believer of aslan and therefore an ally by hiding them and helping them escape ftom the wolves. i do believe them to be dlightful creatures, so here i am among them...

waiting with button eyes...

my little girl as coraline (well, almost as coraline)..she can't wait to see the movie but i told her i have to read the book to her too. i remember when i read it, it was such a creepy delight. the visuals of the film are exciting her just as they do with me. lovely illustration and fanstasy worlds coming to life. i can't wait...

so i drew a little faun...

so i drew a little faun in honor of my new place here. of course, her big mug is filled with cider and she beckons your company...

this morning it was pouring but i took her to school anyway.
poor ginny, not being a modern car (but oh how i love my volkswagen!)
was having a bit of a hard time keeping my windows clear.
i had to keep rubbing off the windshield with my glove.

i came home, had a cup of spiced apple cider tea and began a few things.
now, the rain has died down, she is here in her warm pj's, waiting for popcorn
and ready to watch the aristocats.

a weekend of make-believe....

after i did my little post of the lion, the witch and the wardrobe, i realized the movie was on
and so we watched it (her for the first time).
we had to comfort and talk to her during the scene where aslan is killed and encouraged her to continue to watch.
my husband told her why the whole event transpired, because of love and she was downtrodden at first but thrilled when she realized he came back to life.
we didn't get too deep or theological at this point but i hope she understood it and when she is older, sees the parallel.

now she is watching charlie and the chocolate factory, which, for awhile she didn't like but now loves. she has also noticed that violet beauregarde also has short hair just like her...
