a weekend of make-believe....

after i did my little post of the lion, the witch and the wardrobe, i realized the movie was on
and so we watched it (her for the first time).
we had to comfort and talk to her during the scene where aslan is killed and encouraged her to continue to watch.
my husband told her why the whole event transpired, because of love and she was downtrodden at first but thrilled when she realized he came back to life.
we didn't get too deep or theological at this point but i hope she understood it and when she is older, sees the parallel.

now she is watching charlie and the chocolate factory, which, for awhile she didn't like but now loves. she has also noticed that violet beauregarde also has short hair just like her...

I love both of these movies - so much.

Both those books were in heavy rotation during my childhood, though I had a particular obsession with the Narnia chronicles which lasted for years. I read them more than a dozen times each (and could probably recite them, truth be told). I still get shivers up my spine at that image of Tumnus under the lamppost.
