from a fairy godmother collette..

i just wanted to thank the wonderful ms. lindsay collette for natalie's little red hood.
she was so surprised and thrilled and here she is wearing it, being gently 'attacked'
by our cat (not wolf!) luke...

delightful wolves...

a few days before christmas, i saw this delightful little handmade book
by the most talented julianna swaney of oh my cavalier! i adore her wolves and this booklet
does not leave one disappointed. she also included a gilded print of a girl
craddling a wolf and i think it's just beautiful in both color and composition...

a girl's handy book...

yesterday i went to barnes & noble to pick up a calendar.
i found one with antique maps and i know how much natalie and i
both pretend to be cartographers.
they had a lot of books for sale and i saw this one for only $2.50!
the original girl's handy book, first published in 1887 but the two founders
of the girl's scout. i think her and i will find it to be a delight...

oh little mirror

oh little mirror, you've fallen on the floor
you glisten in the light as you lay in the snow
tell me what will i see if i dare peer in?
what will you tell me in your gilded view?
oh blur the images and leave me to wonder
and leave me another day to dream again

christmas is coming!

i am waiting for my husband to come join us
here in las vegas where we are spending the christmas season.
it's been pleasantly chilly here and a nice respite.
natalie is loving being here just because it's different.
we've been watching cartoons, christmas movies, playing cards
and not too long ago we played connect four, chess and air hockey.

i've been productive in other things too. i finished the book of ghost stories
collected by roald dahl and have completed four drawings.
i am excited for when i return home to add color to them and hopefully
order some new prints for my etsy shop. other than that,  it's been a nice repose.

i have taken a few pictures here and of course, more will be taken in the next few days.
since i am not home i will have to wait to show them all.
until then...to all my friends, i hope you have a wonderful holiday season this year...

a good reminder...

little paper hearts

my love comes out in little paper hearts
strung along on red thread
it hangs above their heads
it sways with their every wind
when they need it
it goes with a simple pluck
sometimes the garland begins to dwindle
and what is then left for me?

a day in anthropologie...
