a curio and two stories...

i received my lovely little curio from little byrd vintage today. it perfectly holds my tiny collection of one inch buttons, mostly from kathleen lolley, the others from birds & nests and linotte. it's like beautiful tiny artworks on display in my room and i like it very much.

today, while grocery shopping, i decided to take a quick look at the books available. i found these two delights together and only for $6.32 (the wonders of sam's club). i read the secret garden when i was younger and had only heard about a little princess both by frances hodgson burnette. i am so happy to have these two and natalie had me start reading a little princess already to her. these two titles will eventually make their way to the books we read and i am pretty happy about that.

and now, sitting here, listening to the crickets outside, letting me know the weather is warm even though it's winter and evening. it feels like late spring which is not a bad thing if it were really late spring. winter seems to have barely been here. i hope i get to see a glimpse of it more before it really is gone. until then, the breeze wafting in is nice and i will enjoy it still...

I saw these book covers, too, and totally loved them. I almost bought them both, even though I already have copies of "The Secret Garden" and "A Little Princess" stashed away somewhere. Those were two of my favorite books when I was a little girl. I'm so glad you're sharing them with Natalie!

Oh, and speaking of buttons, I was wearing a Little Bighead button the other day on my jacket - the one with the little mouse. It's so cute! :)

Very sweet, I love both those books and the illustrations on the covers are beautiful. I cant wait until my little one is old enough to want to sit and read through books like those...

The sound if crickets on a warm evening is one of my favorite simple pleasures in life. Your collection looks beyond wonderful in that little cabinet! Very clever of you to use it for that and so fun to see it all put together!
